Empowering users in the UK: Adaptas Training picks ETU to deliver its online portfolio in the UK

The UK private training market (i.e. the market for training that employers go out and buy) consists of approximately 12,300 vendors and is worth nearly £3bn. The market is very fragmented with only 1 per cent of training providers having over 250 employees. Research indicates that 49% of private sector organisations and 80% of public sector organisations now use eLearning as a training delivery method [source]. However, leveraging online training methods can prove costly for smaller training providers.

ETU Secures Large R&D Grant under EU FP7

The popularity of immersive simulated environments for experiential learning is growing; and will be a part of tomorrow's learning technologies in the key area of adult training. The major challenge is to effectively align the learning experience in the simulated environment with the "real" world context and "day-to-day" job practice. ETU has secured a substantial R&D grant from the EU, under its Framework 7 research programme with a total budget of over €4 million, to collaborate with technology enhanced learning leaders across Europe. The project, starting October 1st 2010, will research and develop a set of metacognition and reflection services to personalise online scenario based learning to a users past experiences and working context. This will help ETU to achieve levels of realism and proximity to daily working practices within the training environment previously not possible.
